What a beautiful site. I booked a pitch with a Lochside view and I wasn’t disappointed. The views were stunning, the site was spotlessly clean. I stayed as a lone female on pitch 1 and I felt so safe. The staff were so lovely, always saying …
Just back from a 1 night stay on Pitch 28 loch side. Wish I was there longer it was just perfect. The view from the pitch was outstanding it had direct access to the waterside. Never used the toilet block as was only there overnight. 5 min walk to Luss village. Can't wait to return
Lovely site on the shores of Loch Ness, clean & reasonably quiet, some road noise is to be expected being beside the A82 and there was a wedding on the Saturday in the hotel next door with a fireworks display and music until midnight, glad …
IMO this site is best described as a functional site. It's handy for a few days around Loch Lomond or a stop over when heading for the Highlands.
The facilities are kept relatively clean bearing in mind the site is used by those into water sports etc.. Not sure of the maintenance though as one shower pipe was held by duct tape and the only other shower in the block had a wobbly base that squelched up grit from around the sides due to a leak underneath. This isn't something that happened overnight! For the size of the site I'm surprised at the minimality of showers/toilets etc. I think the site has been extended since it was designed as it has a longest walk have ever had to the only chemical waste if your furthest from the entrance.
The website descriptions about the various pitches should be taken with a pinch of salt. Pitches with 'Loch view' often had overgrowth of bushes/tree trunks or overhanging foliage between the pitch and the Loch. Boundary foliage needs cutting back to open the views up IMO and to let the sunshine onto the site. Many pitches were shaded heavily by overhanging trees, some getting no sun all day. Quite depressing really and the site needs opening up IMO.
Pitch sizes are compact and terms such as 'Standard' and 'Jumbo' appear to have a different meaning on this site compared to most others I've stayed on . Ours was described as Jumbo but wouldn't make a standard pitch on most sites I've used. See photo to make your own judgement.
It's a bit pricey considering the limited facilities it offers and worse if you add on extra for a Jumbo and again for a Loch view that might even be partially obscured.
I would consider using it again but only if other sites were full/special offer and not using an awning due to the cramped pitches. There is a fair bit of road noise to consider if your planning a long stay.
The site benefits from very limited competition in the area but you might get better value for money paying a bit more elsewhere depending on your minimum standard expectations.
Great location … Lock pitches a must … we stopped on pitch 35 which was partially shaded and the hard surface was not the best. The view of the Lock was slightly obscured by trees. Given it was jumbo size pitch at an extra cost it was not comparable with some of the other Lock size pitches.
However the campsite let us down with very limited facilities for 100 pitches. 8 toilets and 8 showers , 4 of each per M & F block. The facilities were also in a poor condition (as per the photographs) and not overly clean.
Also one chemical waste disposal point seems insufficient for the size of the site.
The rubbish location was by the entrance to the site. This does not make it overly easy for everyone.
There is a lot of Road noise from the A82 due to the site location. So if you want a quiet break this is not for you.
At £56 a night we will not be rushing back and I cannot score it any lower than 1 star.
Great campsite shame we were only there for 1 night. Site was extremely well kept. Facilities were extremely clean and modern and great lighting in facilitates. Showers were warm and clean just a shame they were a push button shower but we understand why campsites do this.
We’d just done the NC500 and these facilities were far better than all the ones we’d been to and they same price as them.
Our pitch number 17 was perfect it was fenced in so we could park our van and keep our dog on the grass with easy not worrying she would escape. Then a gorgeous view of the lake and a 10 second walk to the loch perfect for swimming for the dog or us.
Would love to return as the location was perfect a short walk to a Luss we had breakfast in a local cafe and dinner in the local arms pub all of which allowed the dog.
It was near a busy road which can be slightly heard during the day but at night extremely quiet and tranquil.
Even offering visitors car park free. On our departure day we parked here and headed into town for breakfast.
Highly recommend!!!
Good location. Spacious and ideal for couples. A little expensive compared to other sites but you pay for the location. Toilet and showers were disappointing. The small village is a very short walk. There's a petrol station and village shop serving food and other souvenirs/food. There's a pub/restaurant but expensive. We ate in a cafe/restaurant, but the food was expensive and mediocre. I'd recommend taking your own food. Tours across the loch and access to small shail beaches. Pretty area but you only need 1 night there.
For camping around the loch Lomand area, this is the one to beat. Absolutely stunning views from all around wherever you pitch. The facilities are decent and cleaned regularly. Good for camping or caravanning. Two of us and the doggo had an …
